Our Story

Jesus Is Our Healer Mission started with a God-given desire to help the homeless community. James Havens, Founder and Servant of Jesus Christ, established Jesus Is Our Healer Mission. He is a retired United States Navy Senior Chief who lived in Norwich, CT. While volunteering as a cook at a local soup kitchen on Fridays and Saturdays, James began to feel in his spirit that he needed to do more for the Kingdom of God. James enjoyed working with the homeless community and those who were in need. Jesus Christ started revealing to him a plan to create a mission that would ultimately allow those in the homeless community who wanted a new life to walk in freedom.

James' church and family were both in Ohio, so he sold his house and moved back to the buckeye state. After getting settled, he grabbed his Bible, filled his jeep with food and water, and started driving all over the city of Columbus, looking to fulfill the call God placed in his heart. Although it was a slow process, he was determined to accomplish the task of reaching the homeless. So with a persevering heart and a bulldog determination, he kept going out following the great commission that Jesus directed us to fulfill in Mark 16:15-18. Every time James went out, Jesus Christ went with him. The Spirit of God led him to many different homeless camps where he was able to provide the people with food and water and needed supplies to make things a little bit easier. Most importantly, he told them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His redemptive plan of salvation. Here at Jesus Is Our Healer Mission, we lay hands on the sick in the name of Jesus Christ, and we watch them recover everytime! We cast out demons in Jesus' name! We are committed to helping the homeless community and those in need.
